Nedrow, N.Y. (October 6, 2026) — The Haudenosaunee Nationals, the premier international lacrosse organization representing the sport’s origins on the world stage, have punched their tickets to the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships.
The Nationals showed why they’re considered among the sport’s elite thanks to an impressive showing at the 2026 Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championship in Oshawa, Canada. In a tournament also featuring the United States and Canada, ranked top two in the world in the Olympic-style format, the Haudenosaunee men clinched bronze, while the women finished in fourth place after their own dazzling run to the bronze-medal game.
The Nationals’ men and women now turn their attention to next year’s World Lacrosse championships in Colorado, where five teams on each side will ultimately qualify for the LA28 Olympics.
“The responsibility of representing the origins of lacrosse on the world stage is one our athletes do not take lightly. The men and women who donned the purple and gold in Oshawa represent much more than just themselves. They stand for the generations before them never awarded these opportunities to compete at the highest level,” said Claudia Jimerson, director of lacrosse operations for the Haudenosaunee Nationals. “Lacrosse history is our history, and we look forward to our continued role in growing the Creator’s Game across the globe.”
A strong start to the Pan-Am tournament proved to be a sign of things to come for the Nationals as the women cruised to a 36-6 victory over Jamaica. Not to be outdone, the men followed with a dominant 29-3 victory over Mexico in their opening match. The Haudenosaunee women went on to finish 2-1 while outscoring opponents 69-32 in group play. The men finished second in their group with a record of 2-1, outscoring opponents 58-34.
Despite a strong showing in the group stage, the Haudenosaunee women fell short against Puerto Rico 15-9 in the bronze-medal match on Sunday.
But the men came out on top later in the day, winning a 15-13 thriller over Puerto Rico to secure bronze for the stewards of The Creator’s Game. It was a back-and-forth affair from the start, as Puerto Rico opened the scoring just 34 seconds into the match before Chace Cogan netted an equalizer for the Haudenosaunee a little over 90 seconds later.
Neither side held a lead larger than one until three straight goals by Puerto Rico put them ahead 11-9 late in the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter, however, would belong to the Haudenosaunee. The Nationals scored 6 of the next 8 goals, led by 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) for Kaidyn Lickers and 2 goals from Trysen Sunday to clinch their spot on the podium.
The 2026 Pan-American Lacrosse Championship served as the first leg of the Olympic qualifying pathway. Over the next two months, around 100 hopefuls will compete in four regional championships to determine the 16 men’s and women’s teams advancing to the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships. From there, the top five teams for the men and the women will secure their spots at LA28.
With their performances in Oshawa, the Haudenosaunee men hope to improve on their top 5 world ranking in the Sixes discipline, while the women look to leverage their finish over the weekend to climb into the World Lacrosse Top 8.
The Haudenosaunee currently rank No. 3 (men) and No. 4 (women) in the more established Field discipline.
